After a week’s use, these speakers are extremely impressive. For their size and price, they pack a solid punch. They feel well made too, a fantastic all rounder.
Setting up was easy. I don’t really read manuals and didn’t have to for this. All user friendly and straightforward. The remote control – I love it’s size, nice, slim and easy to use.
Sound:
The speakers offer great HD sound. Overall it’s crisp, warm and smooth, just feels and sounds wholesome. The tweeters enhance it and add a refinement too. The movement of sound from both speakers gives a bigger feel than what they actually are. The speakers are loud! For 5” drivers and 80W, they really fill the room.
It has 3 EQ settings. The music setting sounds brilliant. I pushed the volume to near 90% and it still had quality and depth. My music taste varies, anything from 80s to hip hop, everything sounded good. You could leave your music playing and just get lost in it.
The movie setting gives a fantastic all round, fully immersive and very well balanced sound. The dialogue remains clear too.
The dialogue setting is something I like to use, especially for TV programmes. I could hear all dialogue crystal clear.
You can also adjust the treble and bass which is a bonus. You’re only going to get so much bass from a 5” driver but again, it’s still enough to fill a whole room comfortably.
Connectivity:
This has a selection of connectivity options; bluetooth, HDMI ARC, RCA, optical and USB. I used it mainly for movies on my tv and music via bluetooth but tried all options.
The HDMI ARC and RCA connections, both sounded excellent for music, movies, tv sports and gaming.
Bluetooth connection was straightforward and I connected my phone to it. Excellent sound quality too.
I plugged a 128GB USB into the speaker as well (with music files) and it picked it up straight away. This sounded great too.
I connected my PS4 via optical. For gaming it was absolutely fine. I also played some music via the game and it sounded good. With a bluray, it just lacked a little in clarity. Optical was great for gaming, but my preference would be an alternative connection for movies / blurays.
I also connected the speakers to my laptop. I work from home so tried it with Zoom. Using the dialogue setting, the speakers were loud, clear and more than ample.
Overall, I have been super impressed by these. For bookshelf speakers, the size and price, they offer excellent quality, immersive sound, ability to tweak the sound and multi connectivity options. It’s like a jack of all trades! The Majority D80 speakers have actually exceeded my expectations. 100% value for money.

The D80 Multi-purpose bookshelf speakers from Majority seem to tick a lot of boxes, therefore I was
excited to receive them and see how their quality compared to their list of features.
The speakers and accessories were well-packed but still quite minimally, not wasting materials where
they weren’t required. The included remote and cable seemed to be of adequate quality, though I was
disappointed to find that batteries were not included with the remote at this price point. Whilst
unboxing, I noticed that the speakers have a good weight to them, and feel sturdy when sitting on a flat
surface. Build quality also seems to be pretty good.
Once I had the speakers set up, I first tried to pair my phone to them using the bluetooth function. The
speakers paired quickly to my phone which was good, and the remotes clear and simple layout made
that easy to do. The multi-colour LED on the front of the right speaker also clearly shows the mode
which is active. I played a few tracks from my Spotify playlist, and the sound out of the box was clear,
well-rounded and with good weight from the bass created by the 5 inch drivers, silk dome tweeters.
There was no harshness to the sound, throughout all of the different input modes. It was also clear that
the 80 watt amplifier performance was being used effectively. I did tweak the bass and treble controls to
my liking, and tried the three default sound profiles on the remote. Overall, the sound was comparable
to my trusty Bose PC desktop speakers which would have cost considerably more when they were new.
This was also the case when I linked them to my PC using the included 3.5mm jack to RCA cable.
Certainly no complaints in terms of sound quality!
The volume can be contolled via the remote or by the controls on the back of the right speaker,
however i found the placement of the volume knob on the speaker rather awkard for access; this would
have been much more ergonomic placed on the front of the unit. I do appreciate however that its rear
location keeps the speakers looking more sleek.
I’ve yet to experience the speakers when linked to my TV via HDMI ATC or optical, however I’m
confident that these sources will be as effective as the others. Overall, these are a good set of portable
speakers which could be used in a multitude of environments, with room-filling clear sound. Some little
tweaks would make these perfect in terms of function and ergonomics, but the sound quality is the
overall thing that stands out to me.
