Easy to use good battery life good camera fast delivery nice big size screen highly recommend. Only downside is you need a usb c to c plug so get one in advance

Do phones no longer come with a wire and plug to charge them? Have I travelled back to the 1980’s where you had to buy a plug separately? I mean my dad likes the phone but now he’s got to spend more money for the ability to charge the thing! I mean he’s 70+. He’s spent so much money on a phone that he could only use while he watched the battery life fade waiting for a phone charger to arrive.

This is my first Samsung phone. Before this one I used a by now 4.5 years old cheap and cheerful Xiaomi phone but want to avoid Chinese brands because of the security aspects (all mobiles by mainland Chinese brands are with very high likelyhood spy-phones as any data is running via Chinese servers (hence even the UK government outlawed huawei and other Chinese IT/mobile networking equipment from being used anywhere in the UK!) Despite the great difference in price and given that this model is 4.5 years more recent than my old phone, I can’t see any difference in processor speed so was mightily disappointed about my first Samsung phone. It was only by chance, when I read some of the 1 Star ratings on Amazon.co.uk that I realised that I was duped by the sellers!
Do not buy this phone if you want Samsung’s full feature benefits! Instead of the much faster standard Exynos 1330 that is included in the standard version of the GALAXY A14 5G, does this have the very old and much cheaper MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset that was used in the predecessor Galaxy A13 5G model! It looks like the dealers are stealthily selling here a much worse performing version of the GALAXY A14 5G that is meant for export to countries like India that can be sold at a lower price for the same profit margin BUT this is NOT the UK version of the Samsung GALAXY A14 5G!!!
The Exynos chip is much more powerful which means that a whole range of standard features for the UK version are NOT INCLUDED with this phone. Examples include but are not limited to: there is no equalizer or sound assistant so if your listening to Amazon hd tidal or apple music you will not get good audio quality like lossless. Also I won’t be surprised if this won’t receive the new android 14 update later this year.
Athough the dealer correctly stated the version of this as being “SM-A146P”, is this ‘offer’ still highly misleading as it totally lacks any note that this is a far inferior version of the SM-A146PL!

The phone was a little challenging to set up as when powered on it was in Chinese, I knew these were normally European phones, configured for the UK market (which is why they are a little cheaper) – Fortunately using the google translate app on the old phone it helped to navigate to the settings, change the language and keyboard from Hong Kong to English.
Once that was done the Smart tool transferred the account, applications and data without any problems from the old phone, only taking a few minutes over Wireless, it also updated to Android 13 without issue in about 5 minutes.
If you buy one of these for an upgrade be sure to have Google translate on hand just in case yours is the same, it didn’t cause too much of an issue, only delaying the setup by a few minutes.
It’s a nice phone, a great looking screen very clear and easy to read, no charger in the box and a USB C-C cable supplied so you might need to order a USB cable and charger, fortunately I had both, it charged quite quickly on my 2A charger and despite doing the account migration, Android update and configure all the apps on battery (plus the usual new phone fiddling about), some 9 hours later it’s dropped 14% charge (showing 86% remaining) without power save being enabled.
The side mounted finger print scanner works very well, much improved from older phones, a quick touch and the phone is unlocked with the home screen appearing in an instant, I’ve only taken a couple of photos with the camera but it looks very good.
If this is an indication of how things are going to be then it’s going to be a great phone, very similar in looks and speed to our Samsung 21 FE for a fraction of the price.
Would have awarded 5 stars but it lost one for initially being in Chinese and stumbling the setup for a few minutes.

Ordered the item being a bit sceptical about it, when it arrived it came in original Samsung packaging with the user manual,cable and sim card tool.
Not a scratch on the phone anywhere,overall really happy about the item
Would recommend to anyone who is buying a phone on a budget, really good value for money

Phone looks and feels good and is fairly easy to use.The battery lasts for days .Getting a fast charger is recommended if used constantly.
Amazon delivery was faster than expected and the price very competitive. A good buy.
