Definitely a return to form for the assassin’s creed franchise. Massive open world game with RPG mechanics such as voice options which lead to real changes in game, gear and loot system and ability point leveling system which encourages different methods of gameplay.
Only issue with this game would be the the slightly grindy nature of the game if you don’t focus on side questions and explanation.

Great graphics and a great story, with tons of side missions and RPG elements too. I got a bit bored with this franchise, but Odyssey sees Assassins Creed back on form. The Spartan Kick is awesome – This is Sparta!! Love it!

i played for 1 kilohour. It gives you a flavour of history – of what things were like. Obviously it’s not entirely accurate, but I found the experience to be amazing. The combat is superb. There are 40 things that p me off about this game. But i love it.

Awesome game. Everything worked out fine except – there should be disclaimer about graphic card drivers. You need at least Nvidia second newest for game to work. Dont know about Radeon GC`s.
And – if you have I5 intel CPU – be prepared to play in less then 60 fps.

This game has been a real frustration to me. I’m currently slogging my way through, and have reached 40 hours of gameplay and am nowhere near the end! Now, for some people, the anticipation of a game with probably 80 hours of gameplay would be viewed as nothing but a positive.
However, once I got about 10-15 hours in, I realised that I was essentially just having deja-vu over and over again.
Each Greek Island is a mirror image of the others, where you run or ride through fairy well spaced olive Wood forests, with random wild animals in them.
The cities are exceptionally bland, especially Athens which I was expecting to be blown away by. Other than the Parthenon, nothing stands out. Alexandria in Origins is far superior as an example of a historical city in the new style AC.
There are naval battles, but they’re all less interesting than in Assassins Creed Black Flag.
The combat system is OK. Its nothing amazing, but the ability to use different perks does make it somewhat interesting. The perks themselves tho are highly variable, with at least one being grabbed directly from Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor.
The two biggest problems I have though are the levelling system and the plot. Essentially, to move through the game, you have to gain experience and then level up, but when you level up, so does everyone else around you, until you all end up at level 50. This means you never have a good advantage over anyone you encounter and means that levels are only there to slow down your game progression. It ends up that you do virtually the same fights with the same bland character types, but with different numbers floating over their heads.
The main plot of the game is a mess. It’s supposed, I think, to focus on breaking up a secret society and finding your family, but nothing the game does really makes me want to care enough to move through this with passion
This is why I’m calling the game a slog…

In summary, there’s an awful lot you can do in Odyssey but it’s already been done elsewhere, better. You’ll get a lot of gametime for your money but you may wonder afterwards was it worth it…

I’m playing on a 1060 6gb and an i5-8400. With settings like volumetric clouds and shadows turned down to medium and most other settings on high I can get 60-80 fps in rural areas, but only around 40 in the more populated places. I sometimes get a tiny amount of screen tearing, but with V-sync set to fast in the Nvidia Control Panel that has only happened once thus far (in Phokis)

As for the game itself–I’m currently level 12, so not that far in, and it’s taken me an equal number of hours to reach this point. There is so much to do! I’m playing as Kassandra. The main storyline is fantastic. The side quests are alright–a tad repetitive, but hey: what RPG doesn’t have a few of those?

All in all, despite optimisation issues, I’m having a great time. Definitely recommend this game.

I have never played an assassins creed game before. However after seeing some of the Youtube reviews, I was intrigued to try this one out as it was getting good feed back. I wasn’t disappointed, the game is beautiful, runs like a dream and the actual game play is a lot of fun. Sure it can get a little repetitive but what game doesn’t after a time. The actual game is massive, you get to play throughout ancient Greece and I am currently 46hrs in, just over 50% of main questline completed and I haven’t even done all the side quests available.
People are comparing this to Witcher 3 which it is admittedly not as good as in the actual story line but excels with the character animation/combat. I would recommend this so anyone!
