Seeing a pair of Active noise cancelling, on-ear headphones seemed too good to be true when I first saw these, and unfortunately, they don’t blow me away.

Firstly, in order to clear up some confusion, this is the version that features an in-line remote (which I was skeptical it would have after reading some reviews) which I can happily report works perfectly. The headphones themselves will sit on your ears at a slight angle, and while this can help with the noise suppression, which I’ll come onto shortly, it felt very odd on my ears and slightly uncomfortable, almost as if they are not resting perfectly. Also when pressing the cup back into the ‘normal’ position that most headphones use, you do feel a difference in music quality (the tighter they are to your head, the better the bass, but the wierd angular design will limit this)

Sound quality is surprisingly good for a pair of 30mm drivers, after using many different pairs of sony headphones in the past they feel like they carry a punchy sound for the money, though slightly sharp treble and (as mentioned before) a slight lack in bass. It is noticeable but not as much as some other models.

Finally the main selling point, the noise cancellation. Is it good? Yes. Is it amazing? No. Simply put, the harshness of the treble limits how loud you can crank these cans, and if you have relatively small ears like me, they can be an awkward fit on the head which lead to alot of readjusting and fiddling. They’l manage to block out the low hum of a bus/train pretty good, but not as good when dealing with large crowds.

If you’re buying these headphones simply for a cheap way to block out the airplane drone for your next flight, by all means get them. If however, you’re planning to put these through everyday use, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

These headphones have very poor noise cancellation and the function would be better described as a volume boost as that is all it seems to do but considering the price is very low for such a function its acceptable.

In other ways these headphones are very good again considering the price, sound quality is very good for comparable headphones. Shouldn’t be compared to the sound quality of products 10 or more times the price of course and as such I would only recommend for general use, audiophiles would not be impressed but then again this is not priced or aimed towards discerning users of that type.

Can be a little uncomfortable for prolonged use due to no padding on the firm plastic but only noticeable after an hour or so which is fine.

for around £35 they are a good option that provides high quality sound in this price range and a limited noise cancellation while being fold able which is pretty impressive for the money. Sound quality is the strongest feature here as it is very good for what is a relatively cheap portable product and if this is the price point your limited to I would highly recommend but do not expect too much from them there are plenty of ‘better’ products out there if your willing to spend a bit more money.

TLDR: £35 SONY headphones with good sound quality for the price but poor noise cancellation. cant complain for £35! slightly uncomfortable for longer use

These are very good headphones. Bought them for a long haul flight but didn’t want to spend big money. These were cheap and made a real difference. They have active noise cancelling so you can really tell the difference when switching them on without music. They are also comfy and the battery (1 × AAA) lasts for ever. They don’t completely cancel out all plane noise but enough to make a tangible difference.

I wasn’t expecting anything outstanding from these headphones, but they worked exactly as I required. I needed these to drown out engine noise on my flights on a recent trip to USA and they did just that. The noise cancelling does not drown out every single bit of noise, but does a good job of cancelling the constant hum of the engines.
The sound quality was adequate – There are better sounding headphones out there, but given that I was using these in a fairly noisy environment, all levels seemed clear.
My one complaint, as others have pointed out, is that the noise cancelling needs to be on for the headphones to sound alright. They sound terrible with the NC off. However as I bought these just for travelling, this issue doesn’t warrant me removing any stars from the review.

Saw these on deal and as I already have a pair (bought 4 years ago) I purchased again. The sound quality is off the hook, the only downside (after 4 years) is that the cushioned foam ear protectors have worn a bit – through use. Great 2nd purchase.

I bought these headphones after reading the reviews. They were really good on and 11 hr flight cancelling out some of the engine and passenger noise and allowing me to listen to the in-flight movies and music. They do not cancel out all of the noise but do take the edge off the engine and ambient noise and the sound delivery is good.

It was a toss up for me between these and the cheaper Sony headphones without the noise cancelling and I’m pleased I chose these ones. They were comfortable to wear constantly for 11 hrs and the noice cancelling worked well with the movie or music playing.

The build quality is good and they good flat for packing. The wire is quite short and flimsy – ideal for flying but maybe not as good for daily or gym use.

Overall I was pleased with my purchase and they were ideal for blocking out the aircraft noise of people and engines for a reasonable price.
