This is arguably the greatest sonic the hedgehog game ever made with an array of extremely well thought out difficult and challenging levels. There are very few easy levels in this game with most I would say requiring a player to be of intermediate standard as there is not an option to change difficulty levels to easy. Some of the levels are quite short with no checkpoints in them so if you make a mistake you have to go all the way back to the beginning whereas others are a lot longer and sometimes require a great deal of practice to complete them. There are some that require you to boost over water whilst simultaneously turning corners and negotiating floating mines in your path, as well as travelling in bobsleighs across stretches of frozen ice which can be very hard to steer. In the game Sonic has to journey across the globe retrieving emerald crystals in various locations as you complete stages, and you need to collect tokens in each place you visit on the world map to unlock further stages. The penultimate stage takes about fifteen minutes to complete and even though it contains a lot of checkpoints you will have to go back right to the beginning of it if you run out of lives and start all over again. The final sequence is about twenty minutes long and even though it does have save points you will have to go back to the beginning just like before once you run out of lives. It contains a complex sequence of challenges to overcome as you gradually weaken the dark Gaia robot before finally delivering the coup de grace and restoring the globe back to peace and harmony. All in all, this really is an outstanding ps3 game and a bargain at the price you will have to pay for it.
