As the title says – the monitor is a great piece of work – let down by the menu button. If, like me, you have a multi-pc setup (switching using a KVM or similar) then get ready for low-level frustration as you try and switch inputs using this fiddly interface. When you want to enter the menu to allow you to switch inputs you will more often than not be given the menu for brightness/contrast etc.
The button has serious problems differentiating between being pushed and being toggled left right / forward back – this really needs to be re-designed with 2 buttons for the separate menus

Picture quality is excellent and colour is strong for movies and TV. When connected to the ps5 the Hz reduces to 140 compared to the 150 as advertised, but still colour and picture is very good for gaming. Excellent for playing games like spiderman 2. I would give it a 5 star but the button for menu is at the bottom of the monitor so can be tricky to find and use when navigated the settings.

I chose the monitor as I already have a Samsung TV. I also wanted a budget set up to get me started off. The picture quality is fantastic! I’ve been using it with my set up for around a month now and I would 100% advise my friends to invest in one. I think the price point is very fair for what you get. The only criticism I would say is the monitor doesn’t come with speakers installed, never the less I use my headphones most of the time so it isn’t a massive problem.

While this monitor looks nice and has a decent still image, it’s completely unusable for any game that has a high level of screen clutter, such as any game with foliage. The ghosting and motion issues render the monitor completely useless in any game that has a certain level of screen clutter, any game along those lines that has a slight amount of PVP involved you best just accept death. I tested this monitor on multiple games and while on some it looked great, others it was completely unusable. Playing games such as DayZ, Tarkov or any singleplayer RPG game with good graphics is impossible with this monitor as the ghosting on foliage and shadows makes the game look completely warped and just plain bad. Do not buy if you play anything that isn’t stylised graphics, for example Borderlands, as this monitor cannot keep up with the changing pixels in the slightest. On arrival, you can combat these issues in non-intensive games ever so slightly by messing with the settings but anything that requires more than console-level compute resources, this monitor will drive you insane. Do not buy if you play anything competitive or intensive in the slightest, I just sent it back and ordered a Zowie.

For me, it’s good for photo editing, the odd video editing, general work and back up TV through the internet

When I first got this, I lowered the the refresh rate to 60Hz, thinking I didn’t need any higher because that was the setting on my old TN monitor which ran games smoothly. I also wasn’t sure if higher hertz was more taxing on my old graphics card(GTX 1060) so I went for the lower setting. However, the same 60Hz on this Samsung Odyssey G3, produced noticeable ghosting/blur on fast paced games. A week later, changing the refresh rate back to 165Hz fixed the issue, and games/movies now play very smoothly without ghosting.

As this is a VA monitor with deep blacks and vibrant whites and colours, picture quality is simply outstanding. The old TN monitor with its washed out colours could not come close. Because the whites are quite vibrant I had to add a touch of yellow in the Windows night light settings which I have on all day to make reading on my kindle app more comfortable on the eyes. Also to improve picture quality, adjusting the gamma settings in the screen calibration tool in Windows 10/11 helps to improve how smoothly black transitions to white, otherwise a person in a black suit can appear bodyless.

In decades, I’ve tried many different monitor brands, BENQ, LG, HP, DELL, but I’ve always had eyestrain with varying degrees when using them. IPS panels are the worst for eyestrain, maybe due to IPS glow. Not sure what exactly it is with this Samsung monitor, my first one, but I no longer get eyestrain anymore. VA definately helps because the high colour contrasts makes images easier to see, but also the 250 nits typical brightness of this G3 means its comfortable on the eyes in any ambient lighting, dark or light. This monitor has minimum 200 nits, which is what I use, brightness at 0, contrast at 40, as I use a desk lamp and because of the vibrant colours, it doesnt affect readability. It’s also great for the eyes and therefore perfect for working long hours.

Also, for good eyecare make sure to set the response time(fast, faster, fastest) in the monitor menu to “faster”. The “fastest” setting uses a hack called blacklight strobing(typical of all VA monitors) to reach 1ms response time, which can cause eystrain and headaches because of the flickering. “Faster” setting doesnt use black light strobing so there is no flicker and combined with 165Hz produces the optimum movie/gaming experience.

After using this monitor for several weeks now, I’ve come to the conclusion that Samsung make the best monitors. The picture quality, eye care, and performance are world class. It’s perfect for work, reading for long periods, browsing, movies and gaming.

The gaming experience for me was just on another level. This monitor is highly recommended and the refresh rate is just decent for a gaming monitor this priced. The size is decent and everything is great about this product.

Fantastic monitor, frame rate and colour are amazing. Easy to setup, I love the versatility of this monitor and 180 rotation.

Only downside is no speakers but I knew that before buying. Has an external aux input so you can connect your own speakers
