Preset temperature for differnt kinds of food, rice, beef, fish etc. Guite easy to operate. In stainless steel, look cool.
20L for small amount of food, effective cooking.
For roasting a small chicken eg 2.8lb could be far too small for it, but it is quite a common dish

This is the 2nd one of these microwaves I’ve bought – the last one lasted just over 4years and is actually still working well, but the interior underneath the microwave plate has rusted significantly. This, I believe, happens because condensation collects inside & runs down to the lowest point. And being a painted/enameled interior rather than stainless steel, it’ll eventually rust if it isn’t dried out after every use. So I’ve now learnt to either wipe up the condensation under the plate, leave the oven door open for a few minutes after use, or use the internal grill to help evaporate the condensation.

I bought an identical replacement for my rusting Russell Hobbs microwave, expecting exactly the same features. And it does have the same features & is almost identical. However, they have added one tiny new feature to this oven, which for me has dropped it from 5stars to 1star in one fell swoop – they’ve added a non-disableable ‘child lock’ which completely disarms ALL of the control panel buttons 1minute after cooking ends. The only way to disengage the childlock is to open the oven door. So what this means is, if you are cooking in your kitchen, you put something in the microwave for a few minutes and become distracted with other things cooking or even a phone call or whatever, then the microwave will complete & after 1minute engage the childlock. So now when you return to the kitchen, to restart your microwave, you have to open/close the door first. So, if like me, you don’t actually calculate how long something needs in the microwave, but instead bung it in & cook for a couple of minutes, then you’ll find you’re constantly opening/closing the oven door in order to disengage the childlock & resume cooking. Obviously the oven door mechanism will break LONG before it begins to rust now!

The childlock in itself is not a bad idea, but what is unforgivable and the reason this microwave has dropped from 5stars to 1star, is because the childlock cannot be permanently disengaged for households where only responsible adults live, or even alter the 1minute childlock engage time to something longer than 1minute.

I’m quite angry that Russell Hobbs have ruined a great microwave by adding such an annoyingly undisableable feature!

My old microwave packed up after twelve years of service. I have the kettle and toaster to match this so it was just what I wanted. I have not tried all the settings yet but it cooks well and looks good in my kitchen.

I wouldn’t have bothered getting anything with a grill, and knew not to expect much from one on a model this size, but I bought this in slight desperation after the little one I’d inherited started shedding enamel, then a replacement similarly sized sharp model lasted less than 20 minutes, and really needed something to reheat frozen meals, and a convenient height grill for simple muffins and crumpets while unable to use all limbs easily.

There’s a lot to like about this. Firstly, the instruction manual, while only needed to understand the limited combination options, is reasonable quality and fully readable without reading glasses. It’s very easy to use, although, I still occasionally cancel what i want to do rather than just hitting the dial to start. Just sometimes I end up going up or down some seconds hitting the dial to start, but that’s minor thing.

The cheap plastic chrome effect buttons are not all that bad. They work much better than a touch panel. Not sure about complaints about turning dial for longer time-lengths… seems to do it pretty well for me with little effort. Chrome plastic door handle is just passable too, but again, works fine to open and close door.

I didn’t expect much from the grill option in a unit this size, and if I had space for a toaster as well, then I doubt I’d ever use it, but it does work to toast a muffin or crumpet, albeit not particularly fast doing one side a time.

I do wonder if the ring that goes under the turntable was actually for something even smaller… you definitely need to make sure it’s in the right place as have had it move out of place then turnable fall off and not turn, but mostly it’s OK.

There’s just a few slight usability issues, but then, some are perhaps for good reason, and make you check you didn’t just start it with nothing in, etc., so none that I’m particularly worried about.

As a microwave, there is really nothing to complain about. It looks OK. Easy to use. Grill is as good as you’d expect of something in a unit this size. It’s pretty much identical size to the one that was shedding it’s insides that didn’t have a grill, so fits the same gap in the kitchen, looks a little better, plus, has a clock! I’m pretty happy.

The buttons make it quite difficult to clean, a touchpad would be easier to wipe but the main reason for the review is I am now having to replace the whole thing because it has patches of rust and peeling paint inside making it totally unusable. The microwave creates a LOT of steam when cooking which has served to rot the inside basically. The water collects under the turntable and restarted to rust it quite quickly. But disappointed as normally the Russel Hobbs appliances last and last.
